‘De Heksen', known as ‘the Witches', written by Roald Dahl, was created in 1983. I've check out this book in Dutch, because I was more than a decade old at that time. ‘The Witches' really made a big impression about me. Roald Dahl is a wonderful copy writer! He knows how to act on kids imagination. The book has also been filmed, in 1990. A lot of may admit they'd somewhat see the film, but I favor the publication. In catalogs, you can use the own thoughts. As soon as you start to see the film, the own imagination is gone, because from then a way the characters look and the environment they live in, is common earth.
The main personality of the book, is also the narrator. He lives with his grandmother, since his father and mother had died in an accident. His grandma is very sensible, and always tells him stories. One day, your woman called him downstairs. When he sat on her lap, she did start to tell a tale about werewolves, using her own experiences with these creatures. Following she told the story, the boy was actually overwhelmed, although also brought on. After a wide range of deliberating, they decide to ‘open the hunting' on the nurses! Together, they will search for almost every witch in the world. They identify where the twelve-monthly meeting in the witches is, and so they do some dangerous issues. How does this kind of all wrap up? Read the book and you'll understand!
In my opinion, the book is a fascinating fantasy-storie, which shows the small reader the good usually overcomes the evil. Also it's written in a very funny way, only as Roald Dahl does. The only criticism I really could have about this book, is the fact it's crafted for small children, about 7/8 years old, therefore it is not enough for adults.
I would personally definitely advise this book to Dutch pupils. If you have to go through a book in english, read this! It's easy to figure out and humorous too.
